10 Coffee Shops to Visit in Austin, TX

Having grown up and went to school in Austin, I’ve spent quite a bit of time exploring the different coffee shops in the city. Which ones had the best drinks, parking, ambiance, Wi-Fi.. All of these were factors I considered when deciding whether I wanted to go back to a place or it was time to try a new one. If you’re looking for ideas on cute coffee shops or the best places to get work done, keep reading for my recommendations on coffee shops to visit in Austin, TX!

Greater Goods

This is one of my all time favorite coffee shops in Austin. The interior is so beautifully designed and it’s very clean and spacious! It’s a great spot to get some work done or just chill. There’s plenty of seating inside including tables & couches for you to lounge on. The drinks here are also amazing. Often times, they have seasonal drinks, which I definitely recommend trying out!

Address: 2501 E 5th St., Austin, TX 78702

Codependent Coffee & Cocktails

This spot is a coffee shop by day and a cocktail bar by night. Codependent has both indoor and outdoor seating options, but I’d really suggest trying to get a spot inside. They have huge windows that bring in a lot of natural light, which helps make the space feel very cozy. The aesthetic is also unmatched!

Every time I go, I see many people co-working from there, but it’s also great for hanging out with friends or getting some studying done! Drinks are a little pricey but the ambiance of the place makes it well worth it.

Mozart’s Coffee Roasters

Mozart’s is an Austin classic that’s been around since 1993! I’ve been coming here for years, and something about sitting by the water while working on schoolwork makes me feel extra productive. Mozart’s is located right on the lake and they have tons of outdoor seating for that great view! There’s not too many indoor seating options, so get there early if you want to sit inside.

They have a wide variety of food options from classic baked goods to sandwiches and quiches and a pretty extensive drink menu!

Merit

Merit has really high-quality food and drink options. In addition, their Triangle location is super cozy with plenty of tables & outlets. The ambiance is great for getting work done with tons of natural light and not overly loud music. I find the baristas here are really friendly and give great drink recs! There’s also a good amount of parking for the Triangle location as well.

Address: 4615 N Lamar Blvd Ste 303A Austin, TX 78751

Summer Moon

Summer Moon is another classic. They’re most know for their “moon milk”, which is their own special creamer that you can find in many of their drinks. My go-to is the quarter-moon latte! It’s not too sweet, but you’ll still get some of the creaminess from their moon milk.

They have multiple locations around Austin, and all the ones I’ve visited have tons of seating and parking! My friends and I especially loved the one over in Bee Caves and would often go there to study.

Address: 3201 Bee Caves Rd #163, Austin, TX 78746

Mañana

Mañana is hands down one of the most aesthetic coffee shops in Austin. It has an incredible selection of pastries as well as good coffee. While I wouldn’t consider it to be the best place to get serious work done, it’s perfect for light studying or chatting with friends! The parking situation can get tough since it’s located on South Congress. Thus, it may be hard to find street parking during the day or you may have to pay for garage parking.

Address: 1603 S Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704

Hot L Coffee

Hot L is located inside the Carpenter Hotel. There isn’t a ton of seating, but it’s a cute little coffee shop that’s perfect for grabbing something to go. The staff are super friendly and they have amazing coffee!

Address: 400 Josephine St, Austin, TX 78704

Houndstooth

Houndstooth serves up some of the most amazing espresso focused drinks in the city! You can also grab some of their large gallon containers of coffee/ cold brew to take home. All the locations have a very clean & welcoming interior that makes you want to stay all day. And, their baristas are always super friendly & helpful! There’s also quite a few locations, but I think the Domain & North Lamar ones have a good amount of parking.

Address: 4200 N Lamar Blvd STE 120, Austin, TX 78756

Hank’s

Hank’s is a cute coffee shop/ café located on the east side of Austin. Their mint cold brew is a pretty unique drink and it’s super refreshing! This is the perfect place to get some work done, grab a meal with friends, and take some cute pics!

Address: 5811 Berkman Dr, Austin, TX 78723

Palomino

Palomino dedicates a large portion of their space to roasting & bagging their beans, which isn’t something you see too often in Austin! They serve super smooth espresso drinks & have a great selection of pastries and breakfast tacos. There’s a good amount of seating inside, and if you’re into southwestern style decor, you’ll love this place! You also don’t have to worry too much about parking as there’s plenty of parking spots.

Address: 4136 E 12th St, Austin, TX 78721
