5 Must Visit Coffee Shops in Lisbon

I think one of the first things that I do when it comes to trip planning is make an impossibly long list of coffee shops I need to visit, and Lisbon was no exception. It didn’t take long for me to start questioning how far I was willing to push my caffeine limit!

In recent years, Portugal’s big cities have really embraced the specialty coffee shop culture alongside the traditional bica – a short espresso. Whether you want a quick morning pick me up to fuel your long day of exploring Lisbon or a leisurely meal, Lisbon has it all! While I didn’t get a chance to hit every place on my list, I wanted to share 5 of the unforgettable coffee shops in Lisbon, Portugal that I was able to stop by.

Comoba - Lisbon Coffee Shop

The Coffee

My friend and I loved this place so much we went out of our way to stop by this location twice in our three days. The Coffee was inspired by Japan’s TO GO coffee culture and use high quality Brazilian beans. The concept is very minimalist and sleek, which can be seen in different aspects of the brand from the interior design to the self-service tablets and lean menu. (p.s. try to grab a seat at the little table overlooking the street!)

Comoba

When you step foot inside Comoba, you almost feel as if you’ve been transported to California. It has an earthy style interior and seasonal menus centering around high quality ingredients sourced from local suppliers. They offer mostly vegan options with the exception of a few fish dishes. While a little more on the expensive side, I thought both the drinks and food were well made. And I think the atmosphere itself is worth the visit!

Buna Specialty Coffee

Buna is one of those neighborhood coffee shops where as soon as you step in, you see regulars interacting with the staff as if they were old friends. There are a few tables inside and outside, but they discourage the use of laptops. They really want the focus to be on the coffee and people around you, hence their motto: “Coffee and People”. I fell in love with the space and seeing all the locals interact! The staff were super friendly and every once in a while it’s refreshing to take a slow morning to enjoy a nice cappuccino.

Hello, Kristof

This is a cute little coffee shop with a nice selection of magazines and other unique items for purchase. The staff is super friendly and the space is relatively small with only a few tables. It’s a great option if you want a quicker breakfast as heir food menu mostly offers up toasts and pastries. While you’re here, I recommend grabbing one of their freshly squeezed juices and espresso drinks!

Copenhagen Coffee Lab

There are several locations around the city, but we stopped by on our way to the Santa Clara flea market. It had a cozy interior with plenty of seating both inside and outside for people to work at. All the pastries looked delicious (especially all the bun variations)!! We tried their espresso tonic drink and fresh juices which were both very refreshing!
